Child Education Society: A Legacy of Learning and Vision
Founded in 1944, during India’s pre-independence era, the Child Education Society (CES) stands as the parent body of all Bal Bharati Public Schools and several other educational institutions across India. Its founders envisioned an education system that would preserve and promote Indian culture, heritage, tradition, and ethos, while preparing young minds to meet the challenges of a modern world. The Society was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and since then, it has remained steadfast in its mission of nation-building through education.
What began as a single school on Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Marg, New Delhi, in 1944, has today grown into a dynamic network of educational institutions spread across multiple states. As the governing body of 26 Bal Bharati Public Schools, CES continues to nurture excellence, inclusivity, and innovation in education across the nation. Guided by eminent educationists and social workers, the Society has expanded its reach significantly over the years. Under the visionary leadership of Late Shri K. K. Khullar, Late Shri L. R. Channa, and the current President, Mr. Nikhil Channa, CES has evolved into one of India’s most respected educational organizations—committed to shaping future generations with a blend of tradition, innovation, and compassion.
Inspired by the ancient Sanskrit maxim “आ नो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतः” — “Let noble thoughts come to us from all sides” — the Child Education Society believes that education must nurture every facet of a child’s personality: intellectual, emotional, social, physical, and moral. The Society aims to create lifelong learners and responsible citizens who embody compassion, integrity, and respect for diversity. Bal Bharati’s educational approach emphasises academic excellence and critical thinking, while fostering character formation and ethical values that help students grow into responsible and empathetic individuals. Equal importance is placed on creativity, sportsmanship, and teamwork, nurturing well-rounded personalities who can adapt and lead in an ever-changing world. Every institution operates under the guidance of the CES Board of Management — a distinguished body of educationists, professionals, and social workers — ensuring that the Society’s vision and values are upheld in every sphere of school life.
The Child Education Society continues to expand its reach and innovate in education, upholding the ideals envisioned by its founders more than eight decades ago. Through every Bal Bharati Public School, CES strives to shape young minds who are academically capable, morally grounded, socially conscious, and proud of their Indian heritage, while being prepared to contribute meaningfully to the global community.
